We made the full rounds this year for Charlotte's first Christmas. Christmas Eve festivities started at Jim and Karla's house followed by Grandma McKay's and then Christmas with the Metzger side at my mom and dad's house. Charlotte really enjoyed watching and playing with Keelie and Jace at the McKay Christmas. I think Colby and Cowen were pretty uninterested in her but she watched them very closely at the Metzger Christmas.
Christmas Day was in Indiana at Grandma and Grandpa Miller's house with all the aunts uncles and cousins too. We were so glad Charlotte slept the entire 2 hour drive there knowing she would be too entertained to nap much while we were there. Aunt Miah really enjoyed having a baby around, helping feed her and open her gifts and even change some dirty diapers! She did take a short nap while we were there but napped the whole drive back to Charleston too. She was just so worn out from all that fun! It was a good she rested too because the fun started again not long after we got back to Charleston when her Uncle Dale and Aunt Yvette got in town.
The 26th was Christmas with my immediate family and the 27th was supposed to be Christmas with the Swinford side but poor Grandpa John got pneumonia (he's on the mend now thank goodness!) so we had to reschedule. The Christmas festivities wound down with the Metzger/Miller/Watkins/Vanausdoll Christmas in Arthur on the 28th.
Whew! I'm out of breath just typing it all. It was a whirl wind of family and friends but we all enjoyed spending time with everyone. Charlotte seemed to be more interested in the wrapping paper than the gifts but she certainly enjoys all her new books and toys now that the paper isn't there to distract her. I swear that our first day back home after all this excitement for a week, Charlotte woke up and kept looking around like "where is everyone?".
