Weekends with friends

A few weekends back we spent a day in Champaign with Tom and Tonya that ended up at the batting cages. This is something that Nick and I never do but Tom and Tonya are on some rec league softball team/s and had some left over tokens laying around just begging to be used on a sunny day. The four of us had a lot of fun as you can see. We laughed at stories of old baseball teams and then laughed at my inability to hit even the slow pitches! As you can probably judge just by looking at the serious stance I took compared to everyone else. Baseball/softball was just never my thing. Nick however felt really good after going to the cages and his performance there made it very clear that he is the natural when it comes to baseball. Harvest has started now so Tom spends all his vacant weekends in St. Louis helping his grandfather in the fields making this the last time we have seen him but we're hoping he and Tonya can make it up soon!

Last weekend we spent Sunday afternoon in Bloomington with Andy and Sarina. This is not abnormal as we have gotten pretty used to seeing them about once a week and usually on Sundays but we did decide to put the playing cards down for a little while this time. We decided it was a good day to hit the pumpkin patch that is just down the road from their apartment. It was really muddy and kind of expensive to do anything other than just walk around but we turned it into a fun 45 minutes anyway.
