This past weekend we went camping at Starved Rock State Park near Utica Illinois with our friends Tom and Tonya and Andy and Sarina. We had a blast! We had decided about a week before where we were going to go but decided we would just get a camp site when we got there rather than make a reservation (the site we thought we wanted was one that could not be reserved anyway). When we finally got on the road and got to Starved Rock though...they only had one spot left and it was only available for one night...dark was rapidly approaching but we really wanted to stay for 2 nights. After an hour long search for a more accomodating campground, we went back to the state park and took the one night site.

Above is a picture of our tents. We didn't know they coordinated untill we got them set up. Saturday morning we got up and made biscuts over the fire in Sarina's new "Pie Iron". They were quite tasty and she and I learned to wait for more people to get up before starting to make them as she and I ended up eating an ENTIRE package bofore having anyone to share with! We decided we would go over to the hiking trails for some scenic views before getting in line to see if we could get a camp site for our second night. On our way to the trails though we stopped at the ranger station and found out we could go ahead and book a site. So...as you can see in the pictures, we loaded up our stuff and moved to another site. We decided we would just put the tents in the back of Tom's truck to move them rather than take them down. We look crazy but it worked. Sarina and I had to sit in the back to keep it from blowing away.
