Friday = Fun Day

Friday June 17
Mom and Jessica and I had a road trip to Chicago planned to attend my friend Katie's baby shower.  We decided to make a weekend out of it and stay the night.  They basically welcomed me back to Illinois with all my Chicago favorites and a few "firsts" for Jessica!  Her first time to Crate & Barrel Outlet.  First piece of Portillo's chocolate cake.  First time at a Super Target.  First time in Ikea.  First meal at Maggiano's.

We stopped by the hotel to check in.  Hilarity ensued.

When mom returned to the car, she informed us that our "double" room had been changed to a "one king" room due to a conference that was taking place at the hotel.  Yes, we were all three going to have to sleep in one bed.  We decided to avoid the situation and wait to actually go to the room.  After hours of shopping (to include rompers and sneaking in the mall after hours) and dinner (really the second one that night), we returned to the hotel already laughing at the prospect of having to sleep in one bed.  Little did we know this would not be the last surprise of the night.  As we entered the hotel we were immersed in the crowds of the "Sci-fi and Fantasy" convention.  We saw everything from corsets and platform shoes, to men with grey beards long enough to walk on, in full sci-fi costume.  We laughed all day until we finally went to bed after midnight.  An early morning meant there was time to hit one quilt shop downtown before we headed to the baby shower.  It was a long weekend that ended with mom napping in the back of her own car while I did the driving.  Then again...that was just round one.

Friday June 24
In celebration of Aunt Jo's upcoming 50th birthday, we had planned a girls weekend around the Michael Buble concert in Moline.  I can't really tell you much since "what happens on girls weekend, stays on girls weekend" but I will tell you this...

silence was rare
orange was stylish
ice cream was good
drinks were plentiful
Michael Buble was AWESOME
friends were best

Our only dilemma is topping it next year.
(the only in-focus picture I got.)
