The waiting game...

It's that time of year again that as the family of a Caterpillar employee in a rotational position, we are sitting back and waiting to hear our fate. Nick is up for rotation in June and the available positions are spread far and wide this year.
The positions are as follows:
3 in the Peoria area
2 in Aurora, IL
2 in Minneapolis, MN
1 in Greenville, SC
2 in Griffin, GA (Atlanta area)
4 in San Diego, CA.
I have already google'd the driving distance from each of these places to other popular destinations in their area.
Griffin is just about 4 hours from Savannah and Asheville, NC (home of Biltmore, which we love). It is also nearest to Disney World! Griffin would also get us about 3 hours closer to our friends Ben and Laura in Mississippi.
San Diego is only an hour and a half from DisneyLand, about 5 hours from Vegas, and just 6 hours from my friend Nicole in Phoenix. Not to mention, it is the cheapest place in the US to fly to Hawaii from!
Greenville is just an hour and a half from Asheville, NC and only an hour from the nearest Pottery Barn Outlet! It is also close to Charleston SC, and Atlanta, GA.
Minneapolis makes us think of only cold things. This does not appeal to us at all and frankly makes me shiver just considering it. We are really hoping CAT doesn't send us there. We are ready for warmer weather.
Aurora also doesn't appeal to us very much. We like Chicago and the area but neither of us feel the need to ever be there longer than a long weekend.
Keeping us in the Peoria area would certainly allow for some stability in our lives. I now have a job that I love and work with people that I love even more. And of course we are close to friends and family here.
To be honest, we don't really have much say in where we go but we would of course love to hear your advise in the matter. My cousin Claire has already asked if she can spend a month of her summer with us if we move to California. The answer of course is "YES!" and we would be happy to have visitors no matter where we end up.
We will find out April 1st where we will be going or if we will be staying in Peoria.
The next two weeks are going to be very very long.
And so, we wait...

  1. well my first vote is to have you stay put so it would be easier to see you. however, the call of warm weather sounds nice too. karaline thinks it would be fun to go to disney so we know where her vote is. i am happy where ever you are happy!
